ANARCHOPHY
ANARCHOPHY (always written in all-caps, and no, there is no reason) was a strange little blip in my otherwise entirely punk rock track record where I experimented with hip-hop. Basically, I was writing some beats on Garageband - the first time creating music electronically - and was challenging myself every weekend to write something different and push myself out of my comfort zone. My wife suggested hip-hop and as I’m a fan of hip-hop anyway, it came surprisingly easy. As someone who has always written poems, I liked the idea of attempting something more spoken word than my usual stuff, and experimenting with the electronic music. For a few years it was a cool outlet, and it gave me the confidence to go solo with Strangely Shaped By Fathers, but I stopped doing ANARCHOPHY stuff at some point. I might return to it one day, but for now, while I remain proud of the beats and the lyrics, there are definitely better rappers you could listen to than me!
